Stable Visit Season

Stable Visit Season…

It’s been a busy few weeks here at Chelsea Thoroughbreds with our stable visit season truly in full swing. We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming both our Flat and National Hunt owners to the various stable visits we’ve hosted over the past month.

Having recently recruited Olly Murphy as one of our new NH trainers, the owners of our 5yo gelding by Sea the Moon, JURI, were able to meet their exciting prospect for the first time. It proved a very successful morning for the owners of JURI, who definitely enjoyed the attention. All being well, he will head out for his first run in a bumper in the spring.

Our first Flat yard visit of the season then sprung upon us and we headed down to Ralph Beckett’s and Andrew Balding’s to visit a few old (ish) friends, along with our exciting new 2yo’s.

The horse’s at Ralph’s include SAM COOKE, who is now the grand old age of 7 and is still going strong, along with JIMI HENDRIX who is being aimed at the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster. We also met our new 2yos; NEW CHELSEA who is our gorgeous Colt by New Bay and ST LUKES CHELSEA, a scopey Colt by Territories, all who worked on the sand gallop as they build up their work in preparation for the Turf season.

Once Izzy Beckett’s delicious sausage rolls were consumed and we were all well fuelled, we made the journey across to Andrew Balding’s beautiful yard where we saw our 3yo filly by New Bay, SYDNEY MEWS, who is working nicely ahead of her first run of the season in mid April, along with CHELSEA HARBOUR, our very impressive 2yo by American Pharaoh. This was followed by a brilliant lunch in a local Kingsclere pub, which served a fantastic pint of lager and a great G&T, which was well deserved after such an early start!

A day later, we all headed down to the immaculate yard of Richard Hannon’s, where we were welcomed with an obligatory glass of champagne and pastries on arrival. The view from his owners’ room is quite breath-taking, with the warm up ring directly in sight from the balcony. We saw both ONSLOW GARDENS who was enjoying a spa day and will likely have his first run back after his break in late spring, along with our new 2yo Colt NEW KINGS ROAD by Sioux Nation (the sire of our Group 3 winning Filly SYDNEYARMS CHELSEA).

We then headed to Charlie Hills’ yard where we were of course welcomed with more champagne on arrival and saw the aforementioned SYDNEYARMS CHELSEA, who we are looking forward to seeing again this season. Our imposing 2yo Colt CADOGAN GADENS by No Nay Never was also on show at Hills’ and is another young prospect for this coming season. This proved a fantastic way to end our busy season of yard visits and it was topped off by another fabulous lunch in The Queens Arms.

We’d like to thank our trainers for hosting such brilliant yard visits for all of our owners over the past month and it was so fantastic to see our expanding team of Chelsea Thoroughbreds horses in such great form.

Horses, lunches and champagne…what more could you want?

Happy Racing!

The Chelsea Thoroughbreds Team.
